pho

Recipe from Vietnam! This Recipe for Pho in the Crockpot is full of flavor for a warm soup that is easy to make in a crockpot. A popular dish in Vietnam that is quick to make during the week.

pho Pho is one of our favorite dishes to make when the weather starts getting a little cool. I love putting in tons of vegetables with whatever beef I have in the refrigerator. My favorite is beef with a bone because the broth will have more flavor.

pho Over the years, I have started making most soups it in the crockpot where the meat comes out tender to pull apart with a fork. I've tried other methods but for my personal taste buds, this is still what I prefer.

pho Now there are many ways to make PHO and a friend of mine who owned the Asian Market, Introduced me to these PHO cubes. These are a game changer and very much a difference to make the broth. The best part is the rice noodles that pick up all the broth flavors to slurp into the perfect bite.

Welcome to Vietnam

Most of us have heard of Vietnam due to the Indochina War that lasted 20 years with many conflicts in the North and South of Vietnam. Today, Vietnam is one of the fastest growing economies of the 21st century. It is part of international and intergovernmental institutions including the United Nations.

vietnam With so many today visiting Vietnam,  roughly 13 million tourists in 2017, an increase of 29.1% over the previous year, making it one of the fastest growing tourist destinations in the world. The most visited destination in Vietnam is the largest city, Ho Chi Minh City. Vietnam is home to eight UNESCO World Heritage Sites and Travel + Leisure ranked Hội An as one of the world's top 15 best destinations to visit.

pho

What is Pho?

Pho is the traditional food of Vietnam, which is a bowl of soup. This is not just any soup but a broth full of flavor. The history of pho goes back to the 1900’s and became popularized throughout the world by refugees after the Vietnam War. Even though there are still arguments on the original origin one can agree that it is super delicious and filling.

Equipment & Ingredients Needed

You are able to cook this soup in a soup pot if you don’t own a crockpot. I just find that most soups like that long slow cook to maximize flavor. It makes it richer in flavor and so much easier in a crockpot than a pot on the oven where I need to check it regularly.

My crockpot cost me $29. I still prefer my crockpot to anything else. No bells and whistles to mine, just the turn knob. The Pho cubes can be purchased on Amazon or most Asian markets.
