Portuguese Recipe! The perfect Christmas Popovers from Mom's recipe always fill the air the morning of Christmas. Fluffy popovers that my mom makes for breakfast are a tradition in my family.
They are as big as your head and melt in your mouth. I love putting a little butter and jam in the center to eat them up.
The first thing she says as I walk into the kitchen is, DO NOT open the oven! Yes I know it's all about the oven and the mixing. My mom has made these since I was a child and I still love them the same.
Step by Step - Christmas Popovers
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees (I use a thermometer because ovens change, you can buy one for $10 at Target)
- Make sure to oil the muffin pan and fill it ¾ way. Put in the hot oven to let the oil heat.
- Mix ingredients for 25 minutes on medium and add mixture to the oiled pan.
- Place in the oven for 15 - 20 minutes until the popovers have risen and are golden brown.
Variations - Christmas Popovers
I sometimes add different spices for more flavor to the Christmas Popovers to serve with dinner.
Tip
I make sure I have no distractions when I make them so I don't burn them. That is always my worry so I always keep the light on in the oven when I cook the Christmas Popovers.
