Published: Jul 10, 2025 · Modified: Aug 16, 2025 by Lizzy

Ice Cream with cookie

Ice Cream Recipes for the Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker that have become my family's favorites. As my husband gifted this machine to me during Christmas, I assure you, it has become my favorite appliance and is used regularly. Let me tell you why.

Apple Pie Cookie Crust from New York

Jump to Recipe

I was looking to have that creamy ice cream that I would have when I was a kid. Nothing today comes close at the market, and there are so many ingredients that I can't even pronounce, so I kept complaining every time I would have ice cream. Not to mention, I am not the best cake maker for a wow dessert.

Peach Gelato from Italy

My world changed the minute I got my ice cream machine. If you've ever dreamed of homemade vanilla ice cream and making your frozen masterpieces at home, you're in luck.

Sticky Toffee Pudding from Mary Berry

Sticky Toffee pudding

Whether you're craving creamy vanilla ice cream on top of a pie, chocolate chip ice cream, or unique flavors like masala chai ice cream, tiramisu ice cream, or birthday cake ice cream, this machine has changed my life!

Cherry Vanilla Ice Cream from Rhode Island

Using a Cuisinart ice cream maker (we love the self-freezing models and the ones with a freezer bowl), you can make batches of ice cream in just 20-25 minutes, sometimes 40 minutes.

The Basic Ingredients

Let’s talk ingredients. The best ice cream recipes start with simple ingredients:

  • Heavy cream or heavy whipping cream
  • Whole milk
  • Egg yolks (for that rich custard-style base)
  • A vanilla bean or pure vanilla extract
Mix them together in a large mixing bowl, and you've got your ice cream base. Want a shortcut? Try our easy vanilla ice cream recipe—a huge hit with the whole family last year!

Base Vanilla Ice Cream Recipe

2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
¾ cup granulated sugar, I used honey
3 vanilla bean pods
Pinch of salt

Prepare the Ice Cream Base

  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk together the milk mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 2 minutes.

Chill the Mixture

  • For best results, cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 to 2 hours, or overnight. This helps the mixture cool down and helps to create a creamy texture

Churn Ice Cream

  • Pour the ice cream mixture into the bowl of your Cuisinart ice cream machine.
  • Turn on the machine and churn the mixture according to the manufacturer's instructions. This typically takes about 20-25 minutes until it reaches a smooth texture.

Freezing Process

  • Transfer your churned ice cream into a freezer-safe airtight container.
  • The ice cream is soft at this time, so freeze it for at least four hours. When ready to serve, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes for the perfect scoop!

Serve and Enjoy

  • With an ice cream scoop, place the ice cream into an ice cream bowl with mini chocolate chips, or any topping, along with a waffle ice cream cone!

Once your ice cream mixture is chilled, pour it into your ice cream machine, but for the best results, don’t overfill the freezer bowl and keep your base cold.

Dubai Ice Cream with Pistachio and Chocolate

Some people are using food processors, but I did not have any luck with that; it just didn't give me what I wanted. So with an ice cream maker, I have made ice cream sandwiches and even pina colada blends!

Good Bye Ben & Jerry Ice Cream Sandwich

After churning, store your fresh ice cream in an airtight container. The creamy texture stays best that way and then I can just scoop the vanilla ice cream for my brownies, donuts, pies or just right out of the container!

Cuisinart Vanilla Ice Cream Recipe

The best part? You can customize with your favorite ice cream toppings—think hot fudge, cookie crumbles, or more peanut butter swirl in the middle or my all-time never goes out of style, vanilla ice cream.

Apple Cider Donut with Ice Cream Dessert

Next time you’re craving dessert on a hot summer day, skip the drive and make your own. Whether you prefer basic recipes or are ready to explore homemade ice cream recipes with unique flavors, the Cuisinart ice cream maker is my machine of choice.

Recipe for Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

I have become my own local ice cream shop, making the best ice cream flavors that I can dream up. This has given me the taste of traditional ice cream recipes that farm stands used to sell on our way to the beach as a child. Those were the days of simple living. As the summer days are upon us, let's remember that  "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!" Hope you enjoyed our journey in the American heartland today. Until next time my beautiful friends as my quest for the perfect bite continues.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar I used honey
  • 3 vanilla bean pod or 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • Pinch salt

Instructions

Prepare the Ice Cream Base

  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, scrape the seeds in the center or use vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk together until the sugar is completely dissolved, about 2 minutes.

Chill the Mixture

  • For best results, cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 to 2 hours, or overnight. This helps the mixture cool down and helps to create a creamy texture

Churn the Ice Cream

  • Pour the ice cream mixture into the bowl of your Cuisinart machine.
  • Turn on the machine and churn the mixture according to the manufacturer's instructions. This typically takes about 20-25 minutes.

Freezing Process

  • Once the ice cream reaches a soft-serve consistency, transfer it to an airtight container.
  • For a firmer consistency, place the container in the freezer for about 2-3 hours before serving.

Serve and Enjoy

  • With an ice cream scoop, place the ice cream into a small bowl with your favorite toppings or an ice cream cone!

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add extra egg yolks to the base to make custard-style ice cream, though it will require a bit more cooking and cooling.
  • You can also experiment by adding mix-ins like chocolate chips, crushed cookies, or fruit during the last few minutes of churning if you want to customize your ice cream.

You indicated you used honey instead of sugar in the vanilla ice cream - approx how much honey did you use?

I go by taste of the honey so that is why I don't include how much. Honey is very different from one another. I start with 1/4 cup and taste until it taste right for me and then add. Sugar is consistent but I prefer honey because it a smoother taste then sugar with ice cream. Hope that helps, Lizzy
