Happy New Year Everyone! Hope everyone had a great holiday break. Now it is time for me to start My 30 Day Diet with No Carbs which includes No Sugar to start the New Year.
I am committed this year to stick to the this diet plan for 30 days. Once I entered the world of Perimenopause eating more carbs means more weight. Which the goal is to detox my body so I can lose weight from the Perimenopause. I would have to say this year has been the worse because I am close to being full menopause from the blood test that I took.
Yes there are millions of diets out there and the problem is that most of them will not work on me once I entered menopause cycle of life. It has taken me a year to finally figure out what works with the help of Dr Becky.
My husband kept saying to just eat 5 small meals a day. NO CAN DO, I gained 5 pounds! Then there is the processed foods from Whole30 that gave me night sweats. Then there is the whole healthy fats and I just kept putting on weight. Some people that I know started hormone replacement which does help with the weight gain. I tried and felt like my head was going to pop off. Which is why I stopped right away and am allowing mother nature to do what is natural.

Different Diets Results
5 Small Meals Diet
Gained weight instantly without even having a full plate but a bite here and there. It was amazing after a short term on this diet, I just put on 5 pound in one week! Did not continue with my husband’s theory.
Keto Diet
Lost weight, 3 pounds in one week but was constantly hungry. I definitely could feel the sugar and carb withdrawals. It was the most successful of all. This ketogenic diet was more doable where my cravings were not as sever but I could eat all day.
Paleo Diet
This also worked but I did feel the need to have a piece of toast with a little butter! Not to mention the meat intake was way to much for me. I prefer a little more lettuce and fruits so I don’t crave having toast. I also had more digestion problems being on this diet.
Whole30 Diet
Way to complicated for me and constantly had to look up stuff. The other issue is I bought a few products and it gave me night sweats. This made it to easy to give up so after 2 weeks I was done!
No Sugar No Carb Diet
This was hard to do but totally works and very easy to follow. I had a massive headache and was definitely trying to do this for 30 days. I did have a piece of toast or rice on Saturday as my treat day. When I went on a no carbohydrate diet, the results were better for my weight loss.
Intermittent Fasting with No Carb Diet
This was the most difficult but gave me the best results. In a week I was able to shed 5 pounds and did not feel bloated at all. I had less back pain and felt more alert. In just 2 days I could feel the difference which kind of shocked me a little. Also I had no night sweats while on this diet. The other thing I also noticed, I drank more water because I was always thirsty. Why this happen to me I have no idea so I carried my water everywhere. My carbohydrate intake was low so I could increase my fat burning. I could feel my blood sugar levels go down so I would test myself to see if it was working with a monitor.
Here is what I DID NOT EAT
- Nothing from a box or bag
- No sugar
- No white foods from the following food group, such as rice, pasta, potatoes or sweet potatoes or bread.
- No Wheat
- No Liquor
Soup for Dinner
This is one of the the soups that I turn to when I'm feeling bloated. I know that most of us women can relate. Surprisingly, my husband loves the 7 Day Detox Cabbage Soup. RECIPE >
Soup for Dinner
Detox Carrot and Ginger Soup in the Crock Pot after a family trip is just what I need after over eating on everything that is not good for me. RECIPE >
As I used myself to experiment with Intermittent Fasting with No Carb Diet, I could tell that 2 weeks made a difference when menopause is the main issue with hormones fluctuating. So that old saying of “Look at her mother, she will turn out looking like her.” SO TRUE, you can be skinny all your life but the minute pre-menopause creeps in, watch out!!! Everything I did stopped working.
Homemade Kale Chips for Snacks
Kale chips are an easy to make, homemade snack. Over the weekend I made Homemade Kale Chips, you won't miss Potato Chips. RECIPE >
Since I started, post, pre and heading to full menopause, I have gained 22 pounds. Some people that I know have gained 50 to 70 pounds and still keep going up in weight. My main concern is the back pain, heart disease which means drop dead from a heart attack or type 2 diabetes which happened to members of my family as they got older.
The frustration that so many women feel during this time is really obvious to me now on how difficult weight loss is during this time. I had to try these different diets to see what worked for me and with a little help from Dr Becky it all seem to work. Stay tune!
