Peach Gelato is an Italian ice cream that is like no other. Mixing egg yolks and cream to give a custard texture with sweet peaches swirling together is the perfect summer dessert.
In most European countries, Italian Gelato is the only thing to buy for an ice cream cone. It's my favorite dessert for summer and making it with an ice cream maker makes it easy without too much effort.
Bernardo Buontalenti who was a native of Florence who created a form of the modern gelato to impress the court of Catherina dei Medici. It slowly made its way to the United States in 1770 with an Italian native Giovanni Biasiolo. Yet it didn't grow in popularity because right about the same time, the hand crank freezer was invented and homemade ice cream overshadowed gelato.
Today gelato is back and adding some Georgia peaches adds the unity of two countries to blend the perfect gelato. Let's face it nothing beats a Georgia peach. Now let's start on these fresh peaches frozen gelato that is better than a peach pie.
