We Eloped - Feb 23, 2016

Dear Friends and Family,

We would like to take this opportunity to let you know that we, Elisabeth Cascalheira and Jeffrey Thomas, eloped on February 23, 2016 to become husband and wife.  We called our parents at 6:00 p.m. that evening to join our vow exchange on FaceTime. A little different then what a conventional wedding tends to be, but what else would you expect from us!

It was a decision that we made together before we move to Washington, D.C. for Jeff’s new job. The timing was an issue with us planning a wedding, and we wanted to get married before we started our new life together in D.C. We also didn’t want to inconvenience anyone with the financial obligations of attending a wedding out of state. Once we did the math, we realized that for one person to fly from Rhode Island or New York to Florida and stay at a hotel for 2 nights during high season would be a total of $1100 per person if not higher.

We also thought about having it in New York or Rhode Island, which became another complication because of us moving at this time. The best choice for us (Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Thomas) was to elope! I hope that as our closest friends and family, you will understand that we love you all, and we hope you can wish us a happy and blessed marriage.

Thank you everyone for all the love you have given us over the years,
Love Jeffrey  &  Liz
