Memorial Day Weekend at National Harbor was so much fun. We have been meaning to go over after living here for 1 year but never made it across the river. Which is just a water taxi ride across the Potomac River or a quick bus ride away from King Street Metro Station.
The weather was perfect with a nice cool breeze coming in from the river. The amazing part was the ferris wheel that seems to lay down in the river along with all the boats in the harbor. MGM is right there so if you need a hotel or a little gambling for the night, it's the perfect stay. There are tons of restaurants in the area along with some shopping.
I would recommend the Tanger Outlets not far from the area. A bus will take you there for a 5 minute bus ride. We got some TUMI items that were less expensive compared to the department store. The area is beautiful and easy to get to MGM. So don't spend your money all in one place because there is tons to shop!
We decided to only do the bus system this weekend to see if it was easy to get around. You definitely don't need a car to get around and with 5 different bus lines that we tried, the variety is endless from one area to another. It took us a little longer to get from one area to another but easy to get around the area of DC and Alexandria, VA. I have never meet such a bunch of nice Bus Drivers for directions and advice, the best in any city I have ever run into so far.
As we did a little shopping and eating along the way, I regret to say that I wish I had come here sooner. It was a beautiful day for us to walk around and enjoy a little R&R this weekend. I hope you all did the same while remembering the many soldiers that have given themselves to honor our country. Peace and Love to all the families that have scarified for the United States of America.
